Latest PS4 vs Xbox One Poll Results

A commentary on the latest PS4 vs Xbox One poll numbers from Reuters. When gamer’s were asked, which console they planned on picking up this holiday season. The results came back a little skewed. I break down the numbers and talk about my thoughts about why the Xbox One is currently lagging behind the PS4 with consumers.

More U.S. shoppers prefer Sony Corp’s upcoming PlayStation 4 than Microsoft Corp’s Xbox One, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, as the industry’s two leading videogame console makers prepare to do battle this holiday season.

Asked about their interest in dedicated game devices, 26 percent of 1,297 people surveyed online last week say they are likely to purchase the new PlayStation 4 when available, versus 15 percent opting for the Xbox One.

The rift widens among those below the age of 40. Of that group of 408 people, 41 percent picked Sony’s PS4 versus 27 percent for Microsoft’s Xbox One, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted from Sept 23 to Sept 27.

Could You Live Without the Internet?

A recent Pew Research poll came out with statistics on how many American’s are living without internet. It turns out that 15% of the population is not traveling on the world wide web. It’s also worth noting that a majority of people who are not connected said they had no interest in getting on the internet in the future. Could you unplug from the internet?

PS4 News: Eye Camera and Voice Commands

This is a Playstation 4 news update which covers new information concerning the Playstation Eye and voice commands that you can use to navigate the UI menu on the PS4.

When the PlayStation 4 launches this November, the PlayStation Eye camera will enable you to sign into the console using just your face. Unlike its Microsoft counterpart, Kinect, the Eye won’t allow much more control of the system. At least not initially. “At the time of launch, first the face recognition is for the purpose of logging in,” SVP and Division President of Business Division 1 at Sony Computer Entertainment Masayasu Ito told Engadget in an interview this afternoon.

Beyond face recognition for log in — something Sony’s still not shown to the press or public — PS4 users with an Eye will also be able to use voice “from the game page.” Ito said, “Game titles could be called in and then the game could start.” But in the future, Ito said the PS4′s camera will go further. There’s no voice or gesture command in the UI beyond what’s described above, but he foresees more in-game use. “That’s as far as it goes, but continuous updates, it can go deeper. Make it with greater depth. With face recognition, we think about how that could be used in the context of the game,” he said. He sadly wouldn’t go further, but demos like The Playroom — a game that’s included on the PS4 at launch — offer an example of how the Eye will work in games. As for more UI control, well, we’re hopeful that that’s part of the “continuous updates” Ito promised.

Xbox One can ‘Play’ PS4 / PS3 / Xbox 360 Games

It has been confirmed that you can plug in your PS4 / PS3 / and Xbox 360 into the Xbox One using the HDMI in port. That means that you can snap back and forth between Xbox One and another console at the same time if you wanted to. But there are some more details that you may be interested in hearing before you decide to try this.

PS3 to PS4: How to Upgrade Games

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Watch_Dogs, and Battlefield 4 are the supported titles for this program. When you buy the Blu-ray Disc or digital version of these select PS3 games, for a limited time, you will receive an entitlement to download a PS4 digital copy of the same game from PlayStation Store when it becomes available, at the discounted price of $9.99.

Gamers who purchase a PS3 Blu-ray Disc of these four games will find a code packed into the PS3 version that they can redeem on PlayStation Store. To play the PS4 version of the game when it becomes available, you’ll need to insert the original PS3 disc in your PS4 to activate and play the PS4 version, so hang onto that PS3 disc!

Gamers who purchase the digital version of any of these four games will not need to redeem a code to receive their PS4 versions. When your PS4 arrives, just look for the PS4 version of the game on PlayStation Store – it will appear on PlayStation Store on your PS4 for the discounted price of $9.99. Just purchase it and start playing!

For those of you who purchase the PS3 disc version of the games, you do not need a PS4 system to redeem your code, so feel free to redeem it as soon as you pick up your PS3 copy — you can download your digital copy later when your PS4 arrives.

But don’t wait: This program lasts for a limited time. You’ll need to redeem your code and make the purchase before January 31st, 2014 (for Assassin’s Creed IV and Watch_Dogs), March 28th (for Battlefield 4), or March 31st (for Call of Duty: Ghosts) in order to participate.

GTA 5 Full of Sexism and Misogyny

Arrested Over GTA5

They posed as cops so they could play as crooks, police say.

A trio of over-eager video gamers– one an auxiliary NYPD officer, another the son of a retired officer — posed as cops to cut hundreds of people on a midnight line to buy the “Grand Theft Auto V” video game in the Staten Island Mall Tuesday, authorities allege.

They even drove off in a car with a lights-and-sirens package installed, according to police.

The video game allows players to take on the roles of three hardened criminals in the fictional California city of Los Santos.

But instead of playing as three criminals, they ended up charged as three criminals.
